A Bigfoot crashes Go-Kart race - Galletta's Karting Club 2009 Volume 17b

In part 2 of our Klassic video (see our other vids), we take you to the post-race festivities from our 14th Annual Galletta's Go-Kart Klassic 200, where we meet the sworn enemy of Professor Speedmonkey, a vile monster known as CM Bigfoot. Unintentional humor ensues, as although the Sasquatch looks powerful, intimidating, and non-str8, he seems a bit... clumsy.

Galletta's Karting Club races economical "Racing-Modified Yard Karts" and homemade "Single-Wheel-Drive Racing Karts" in a weekly points series all Summer through Fall in Oswego, NY for no charge at Galletta's and at other local tracks upon invitation. As you can tell, since we do not spend thousands of dollars on the karts -- nor are living vicariously through our kids sports careers -- we not only have affordable and highly competitive racing, but we have great fun all the while.

Galletta's Karting Club 2009 Vol 15a - 9/19/2009 Prof. SpeedMonkey Races Go-Kart

http://gallettasgreenhouse.com/gokarts/

The preeminent Karting event in Central New York is coming. The 200-Lap Gallettas Klassic is in mid-September, and all local karters who are not weak cowards are trying to get in practice in order to qualify for the event. Even... a monkey!?

In the smallest feature race in years (only 5 karts, where we usually race anywhere between 8-16 on a weekly basis; only 25 laps, where we usually do 45-200), a primate-looking creature emerges from the woods next to the Gallettas Backyard Speedway and challenges the club for a race. "Give me your slowest kart that never wins!" said Speedmonkey, and he went out and won with it, putting it in victory lane for the first time in years!

However, it was Russell Hockey who dominated the entire race, breaking down with a broken drive wheel hub on the last 1/2 lap of the race. Going Apesh!t, Professor used Monkey-VooDoo to momentarily confuse Chris and Tim for the pass, Monkey-Hyperspeed to track down Russ, and Monkey-Laser-Eyes to break Russell's hub on the last lap! Professor took the lead and held off points leader Chris Stevens for the win!

September 19th, 2009 25-Lap Feature Finish:
1st. "Professor Speedmonkey" (Galletta's #1)
2nd. Christopher Stevens (Galletta's #8)
3rd. Timothy Galletta (Galletta's #7)
4th. Melissa Stevens (Stevens #19)
5th. Russ Hockey (Hockey #00; DNF)

I apologize, as usually we have two camera angles, 10-15 karts, and 45-200 laps, but we were caught with a rare Saturday show where only a few people showed.

Next race is our 14th Annual 200-Lap Galletta's Go-Karting Klassic race on October 3rd, 2009! ALL KARTERS WORTH ANYTHING WILL BE THERE! :) (Hopefully Speedmonkey won't show, otherwise we are all toast!)

Greenhouse or Go-Karts? - Galletta's Kart Club 2009 Vol. 2b - Report by Zachary James

This was a great newsreel about our karting club at our 2nd race in 2009 done by NCC News reporter Zachary James Janiszewski. We put on a decent twin-30s show for him and he made a nice report as seen in this excellent footage. His full report is found here:
http://rtn66509.blogspot.com/2009/06/greenhouse-or-go-karts.html

...and full details of the race he covered is found here:
http://gallettasgreenhouse.com/gokarts/20090614.html

It was refreshing to be covered in a positive manner because we had been banned from the Oswego Kartway - by a belligerent, tempersome, irrational grudge-holding track operator - before the season started, and it left all of us feeling very disrespected considering our groups considerable racing skills and the support we had given the track. But, regardless, we had existed over a decade before the other track did, and will continue to exist for many years to come, while they just keep on making enemies with other karters. Oh, well.

Thanks for reading!
